👋 Hey there, my name's Adam—the founder of Lid Lace.

In 2022, I started seeing more and more hats with ropes running across the brim—and I loved the look.

Whenever I bought a new hat, I always looked for one with a rope. The problem? I already had so many ropeless hats, and couldn't find an easy way to add one.

This idea of an attachable rope stuck with me for years. And in September 2024, I finally made a prototype.

Building the business

After designing a prototype and getting some positive early feedback, we started building! Launching a Shopify store, finding reliable rope distributors, and partnering with 3D printing companies that could mass produce our custom clips.

Since then, we've been hand-assembling laces in our warehouse (my bedroom) in San Francisco.

As of September 2025, we've sold 500+ laces—and we can't wait for you to clip on your first Lid Lace.
